The Department of Film at UNLV offers a variety of curricular options leading to graduate study and careers in the dynamic worlds of narrative film and digital filmmaking. The Deparment concentrates its resources on a synergy between the latest industry practices, traditional storytelling, and a scholarly film history context. Degrees offered include a broad-based Bachelor of Arts degree in Film, and Master of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting.
The Film Department continually expands its offerings with innovative directing training, signature screenwriting approaches, the latest in digital cinematography, cutting edge non-linear editing solutions, and interactive approaches toward teaching film history. Guided by their Film Department advisor, students deepen their specific areas of interest, giving then a strong foundation for future professional or graduate work in production, screenwriting, or scholarly studies in film.
