Cavendish College (Creative Studies Department (Film & Video))

Cavendish is an accredited college, established in 1985 offering high quality further & higher education courses leading to internationally recognised qualifications.

Students enjoy and benefit from the international and multi-cultural environment, which contributes to an unforgettable study experience!

A world void of the Cinema or Television would, for the majority of people, be a very different one. The flat moving image attempts to replicate the way we think, see and feel.

Hence the study of this copy of our world is a key to understanding what we partly are through our senses. At the heart of the venture of Video and Filmmaking is the need to re-interpret our experience of the outside world.

This new and exciting time based media course is designed to give students from beginner to intermediate level a solid foundation in the study of film, video and digital media theory and practice. Students can hope to acquire the necessary skills to enable them to gain employment or continue to pursue their studies at university level. The course will provide a grounding in the film and video industries and facilitate students seeking to move towards production, post production, direction, editing and camera operation/photography. As a fundamental component of fine art study, film and video is an ever-growing medium for artists and designers. Film and video is increasingly present as a vital course component in art school syllabuses at all levels.

As well as drawing, manipulation of the still image and digital animation as core elements, the course also introduces other digital media such as web-ready formatting and cd-rom production of sound and image.
