Detroit Film Center
The DETROIT FILM CENTER (DFC), founded in 1993, has served SE Michigan for over 12 years as the areas only non-profit media arts center. In this time, and mostly through the help and assistance of volunteers, the DFC has provided education and resources to thousands of prospective filmmakers and artists and has enriched the community through ongoing screenings of important works of independent film and video.
The Mission of the Detroit Film Center is to provide a vital center for the media arts in SE Michigan
The DFC offers unique and intensive educational programs for aspiring independent filmmakers, video artists and digital designers. Each course is taught by local film professionals and college/university instructors. The goal of each class and workshop is to offer hands-on experience in a relaxed, creative setting. Programs are designed to be intimate, thus space is limited.
The DFC was built on the idea of sharing resources. We offer low-cost film and video equipment rentals, venue rentals and film & video editing rentals. You must be a full member of the DFC and fully proficient to utilize our resources. Equipment and computer rentals must be made a minimum of 3 days in advance. Rental hours are M-Th 6pm-10pm, Fri 4pm-8pm and Sat 10am-6pm.
