Film Academy of Miroslav Ondricek in Pisek (FAMO)




The Film Academy of Miroslav Ondricek is a private film school offering an international Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts Degree in Film and Television. Most of lectures, seminars and workshops are conducted in English. Both Degrees are accredited by the Ministry of Education in the Czech Republic and therefore recognised throughout Europe and the European Union.

Besides we offer one or two semestral intensive Diploma film course, where participants achieve a broad knowledge in Film and Television Production. All students take classes in Screenwriting, Directing (Drama and Documentary), Cinematography, Animation, Production and Post-production techniques; selecting one of those fields as their major area of study. Still Photography, Film History and Theory, Film Music, Set design and other courses are also offered to students. The course is accompanied by practical exercises and includes the opportunity of making own short movie on DV or 35 mm.

The Film Academy educates and trains students to a professional level with specialisations in Screenwriting and Directing; Cinematography; Animation; Sound and Editing. The programme aims to instil graduates with a high level of technical competence and craft skills as well as to develop artistic creativity, originality of ideas and independent point of view. We are trying to encourage engaged attitude, involved to everyday reality. Our aim is not only educate keen professionals, but also expressive, empathic and self-confident personalities.

Hands-on experience and team-work are both given a strong emphasis throughout the programme of study. Therefore, the schedule includes ongoing practical exercises which focus on developing skills in different fields of film proffesions. Students get an overall view of all the aspects of filmmaking process.

The Film Academy has location equipment for digital video, 16mm and 35mm film production. It also has digital post-production facilities for both vision and sound.

In addition, there is a screening room with DVD, 16mm and 35mm facilities, a film studio and equipment for traditional animation and visual effects.

The school is situated in the beautiful historical town of Pisek, which is famous for his rich cultural history. It is not far away from the capital of Czech Republic, the city of Prague and close to Ceske Budejovice or Cesky Krumlov, the jewels of South Bohemia region.
