SAIT Polytechnic (Film And Video Production)

At SAIT Polytechnic, we’re redefining what a quality education in a new world economy is all about . We’re setting new standards in excellence one graduate at a time.

A career make-over is in the bag with our Business Administration and Administrative Information Management programs. A day at the office never looked so good.

The film and video industries play a key role in entertaining and informing Canadians. The creative and artistic output of these industries appears on movie, television and computer screens nationwide, supporting thousands of jobs and generating hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue.

Film and Video students acquire the fundamentals of scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, sound recording and editing. They work with 16 and Super 16 mm motion picture cameras, broadcast-quality video cameras and editing, graphics and sound workstations. They also learn to use a wide range of support equipment and software.

Each academic year is divided into two 16-week semesters, with a three or four-week practicum in the fourth semester.

Entry-level salaried and freelance opportunities are available in production and writing, performing, craft services and technical operations. Graduates find work in the film, video and related industries, and in the media departments of corporate, government, educational and charitable institutions. Many graduates create their own freelance companies to provide services to the core industries.
