The Arts Institute at Bournemouth (Film Production)

This Media Production course provides practical experience of the many aspects of filmmaking, with an emphasis on live action drama productions. Our aim is to produce graduates who take on key creative and production roles in mainstream film production, not just aspiring directors. You will gain a contextual understanding of the entire process of film production and the relationship between all its constituent roles and stages including designing, editing, sound, cinematography, production and direction. As a result, you will be able to produce visually exciting and engaging films, to both entertain and challenge audiences.

This is a course for all film production specialists. Whatever your chosen area of expertise this course aims to produce top quality graduates with a range of skills and a practical, realistic and commercial outlook.

We are interested in students who are passionate about film and who possess a realistic understanding of and commitment to the industry. Upon graduating, it is extremely likely that you will become a freelancer and will need to have a pro-active approach to potential employment and employers. Because of this, we look for students who have taken the initiative, accomplished actual projects and have some paid or unpaid work experience.

Film is a fast moving profession, requiring resilience and a commitment to long, demanding hours - so we simulate that here on our course. Film practitioners must continually create, invent and adapt and our students must be willing to do the same. A demonstrable interest in film and cinema is essential.
