Firenze Arti Visive (Film Studies)

Firenze Arti Visive is a non-profit visual arts program founded by artists for artists. Many visions and diverse voices comprise this unique and progressive program that offers a focused studio arts education with accredited courses at the University undergraduate level and a Post Baccalaureate certificate program. Our interdisciplinary studio curriculum is continually evolving in order to incorporate new approaches, concepts and theories. Here there are no limitations in making art, where creativity is at the core of everything we do and borders are meant to be crossed.

A key factor that distinguishes Firenze Arti Visive apart from other programs is the emphasis on small classes, interdisciplinary study, creative investigation and individual dialogue. At Firenze Arti Visive you will become part of an intimate and supportive artists community, tap into Italy's contemporary art scence that will inspire you, encourage you, and ensure that you have a unique and profound study abroad experience.

This course explores Super-8mm film production, addressing aesthetic, technical, and conceptual concerns. It is a class for those with little or no previous experience and are interested in working with film as a fine art discipline. Basic shooting and editing techniques will be covered and you will be introduced to a wide range of production methods and creative strategies that encourage exploration and risk-taking. This is a hands-on class that promotes the exchange of ideas, offers new ways of seeing, and encourages experimentation. Screenings will include student work (in-progress and finished), as well as films by established filmmakers.
