Global Media Adventures

Global Media Adventures (GMA) was founded in 2003 by a group of journalists and filmmakers who were concerned that little practical training existed for young adults interested in careers in film and broadcast journalism. All GMA instuctors are working journalists and filmmakers who donate their time because they feel strongly that the next generation of filmmakers can exceed the accomplishments of the current generation.

Given the astonishing technological changes in filmmaking in the past decade, more young people than ever before have access to professional and prosumer grade tools that allow them to shoot, edit and produce quality projects from anywhere in the world. While some schools do provide some training, much of it is dated or theoretical. What GMA offers is the opportunity to learn from and work in the field with experienced working writers, shooters, editors, producers and directors.

When GMA's founders began to look for the perfect place to host the summer filmmaking programs, they came across Sámara, Costa Rica. The town is paradise and perfect for our needs. The Foerster family and everyone at the Tico Lodge take great care of us and we look forward to returning each summer with new groups of beginning and advanced filmmakers. Each year GMA improves and offers unmatched resources and experiences for new generations of filmmakers. We work hard and we enjoy the best that Costa Rica has to offer.
