Houston Community College (HCCS Audio Recording and Film)

The Houston Community College System is an open-admission, public institution of higher education offering opportunities for academic advancement, workforce training, career development, and lifelong learning that prepare individuals in our diverse communities for life and work in a global and technological society.

Probably the biggest reason why aspiring producers choose our program for their education is our "hands on" philosophy. After all, without gear to work with and plenty of session time in the studios, you can’t learn much from any recording or film school, regardless of the quality of staff.

That’s why our facilities are open to students until midnight, seven days a week. That’s why we have three complete multi-track audio studios, two fully equipped MIDI studios, a Pro Tools 24 Mix Plus Surround Sound studio, 13 Pro Tools Digi 001 workstations, a 2000 sq. ft film sound stage, a 100 seat movie theater and film cameras, DV cameras, mics, booms, lights and rigging to check out.

As part of our curriculum at HCC students complete and internship class at a commercial recording facility or other professional audio or video business. This allows the student to make valuable contacts in the industry that can lead to jobs and careers in the audio and video field while completing class requirements.
