OFVM offers a programme of film and digital video courses - entry level to advanced - which run during the day, in the evening or at weekends.

All courses are subsidised for EU citizens (non-EU citizens must pay the full price).

To book on a course go to book online in main menu on the left.

We now offer an OFVM Benefit Bursary Scheme as part of our Pathways into Industry initiative. This supports people on means-tested benefits who want to improve their skills on OFVM courses. All applicants need to fill in an application form and if accepted will be able to book any course for £20.

16mm Film - Your first cinematic short - An introduction to film-making covering the process of 16mm short film production from initial idea through to a final edit. The course is designed as an introduction for those who have not shot film before. Students will work in two groups producing two short films using our Arri Super 16mm camera. The films will be edited in our non-linear edit suite.
7 weeks (evenings and weekends), Starts 3rd October 2007

Experimental Film & Video - Pushing the boundaries - This course offers an opportunity to explore and experiment in time-based visual media using Super 8 film and digital video. The course covers the whole process of experimental film production from initial idea through to a final video and looks at various experimental techniques. The course is aimed at artists and filmmakers who wish to explore and develop visual imagery. Even filmmakers who want to make narrative-based documentaries or dramas can benefit from the course, by looking at film through an artist's eye and exploring the potential of the visual form. Students will work in two groups of four producing two short videos using our Sony Professional Digital Camera and Professional Super 8 film cameras (Braun Nizo). The final video will be edited digitally using Adobe Premiere Pro.
