University of Wolverhampton (School of Art & Design (Art & Design))

Video and Film Production

Balancing a mix of practical work with a strong understanding of the artistic, technical and commercial contexts in which you might work, this programme embraces the latest communication technologies to help you realise your creative ambitions.

Our course will prepare you for the competition by developing you as an all-rounder, with plenty of practical project experience, some of it working with actors, clients and other collaborators. You have the option to develop a specialism to prepare you for particular roles, such as camerawork, editing or producing.

Past graduates have progressed through entry-level positions (such as production assistant, trainee researcher, assistant editor) to become directors, producers, editors and directors of photography. Others have remained all-rounders, particularly those who have found positions in small production companies, or as media specialists in non-media organisations.

Of course, not all graduates of Video and Film Production want to make a career in the media. If you are one of these, you will find our course still provides you with a range of desirable transferable skills and knowledge: working in teams, working to deadlines, developing creative ideas in response to a brief, real-world projects, inter-personal and communication skills and working with clients.
