Webster University (School of Communications)

The School of Communications at Webster University operates with one goal in mind — to educate and prepare its students to excel as skilled professionals in a global field of communications.

To achieve this goal, the school takes a hands-on approach to learning. Students work with professional-grade media equipment as early as their freshman year. Internships connect students with more than 300 employers across the nation. And most students graduate with a professional portfolio in hand.

Sixteen distinct majors with different areas of emphasis are available at the undergraduate level, while the graduate program offers master's degrees in five diverse fields of communications.

Classes can be taken at campuses throughout the United States and around the world. For some students who qualify, airfare to one of our global campus locations is covered by the university.

B.A. IN FILM WITH AN EMPHASIS IN FILM PRODUCTION
Webster University provides all the latest-and-greatest tools to assist aspiring film producers, but it's up to them to bring the creativity and drive.

Students majoring in Film with an emphasis in Film Production will see a systematic and thorough approach to the study of film. They'll learn the technical aspects and aesthetic considerations of the craft by working on group film projects, as well as their own films.

On campus, the university plays host to the Webster Film Series, a nationally recognized, year-round film exhibition program. It is the Midwest's premiere hosting venue for film and represents a genuine cinematic alternative in the St. Louis community. All films are free to students.

B.A. IN FILM WITH AN EMPHASIS IN FILM STUDIES
Webster University proves an inspiring place to study the history, aesthetics and critical approaches to film and the filmmaking process. It's home to the only venue in the area that regularly hosts media artists currently working in the industry.

As a Film Studies major at the university you'll move from a general survey of the craft to specific, in-depth studies of specific genres, filmmakers and theories. Upper-level courses focus on detailed analysis of film genres, filmmakers and international cinema.

The major includes basic film production courses and can be a launching pad for careers in film writing, producing and directing, as well as film restoration and preservation.
