The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is one of the nation's premiere schools of mass communication.

Newhouse embraces virtually every known form of information dissemination from print journalism to broadcast journalism to online communication and from advertising and public relations to photography and film. The computer and the Internet figure prominently in the curricula throughout the major areas of study and through a variety of elective courses in computer-based, interactive multimedia. The facility is predominantly digital for capturing and editing sound, still pictures, and moving images. Plans for a third building call for an even more sophisticated technological environment.

Nevertheless the written word and the good idea occupy a preeminent position in all disciplines.

Newhouse students are among the best in the nation, having secured a place in the class through a highly competitive admissions process. A diverse group of highly motivated individuals, they are passionate about the media and are involved in a wide variety of campus media and internship opportunities.

The Television-Radio-Film program prepares future leaders in the television-radio-film and interactive media industries. The major consists of eleven courses: seven core requirements and four electives. Core courses introduce students to issues, practices, and concepts fundamental to an understanding of television-radio-film environments. An extensive array of elective courses provides students with the opportunity to customize their programs of study in line with their unique learning objectives.
