University College of Dublin (UCD School Of Film)

Film is a field of critical analysis and theory; a field of cutting edge technology; a global industry and at its core, a creative art form. Equal attention to these critically integrated elements is a specific, tailored strategy that places the UCD O'Kane Centre for Film Studies at the forefront of graduate and undergraduate study in Europe. A core tenet of Film Studies at UCD is to foster this strong congruent relationship between academic study and the practical, industrial experience of film.

The Centre for Film Studies was established in 1992 on the initiative of actor Gregory Peck, film producer Noel Pearson, former UCD President Dr Patrick Masterson and UCD Professors Andrew Carpenter and Richard Kearney. The Honorary patron of the Centre is Martin Scorsese.

The Centre offers programmes leading to the degrees of BA (Minor), MA, M.Litt and PhD.
