University of New Orleans (UNO Film, Theatre, and Communication Arts)

In a highly-charged liberal arts environment you will get a compherensive understanding and real opportunities to apply your studies in film, theatre, or communication arts by working both on stage and on the screen; in the spotlight and behind the scenes.

Our Goal is to train the complete, independent filmmaker, to give our students the best chance of success in the highly technical and competitive profession of filmmaking.

Students have the opportunity to explore the full range of the communication arts, from high-tech digital animation to documentary and dramatic film production and live performance. We also share our building with the Department of Music and Jazz Studies, creating an intimate synergistic atmosphere within a broad spectrum of the performing arts.

We have one of the most technologically advanced film programs in the country, with our own motion capture facility and state-of-the-art digital post-production editing and audio suites.

We have 30 PCs equiped with Avid Xpress Pro HD, Steinberg Nuendo, Discreet Combustion, and Adobe Creative Suite CS2. All systems are connected to the Avid Lanshare Storage systems. The facility has access to a total of over 6 terabytes of storage for audio and video. All projects are hosted on the Lanshare and accessible from any computer in the PACPOST facility.

Opportunities to practice your craft are plentiful. Students serve as crew on other students projects and on the anual Spring Film and as interns on major motion picture sets like Ray, Runaway Jury, and more.
