Film sound

In the filmmaking the sound and the image goes together. The sound team in the filming is formed by the sound designer, sound editor, music's composer, sound effects artists (foley), etc.

Sound Classification.- The sounds in a movie can be of diverse nature.
  • Noise. - Natural noises, human noises, mechanical noises, etc.
  • Music.
  • Words and dialogues.- Sound has always been part of films, however, spectators could not hear it physically in silent films so they had to read it and interpret it.
Music Functions
  • Rhythmic function. - The music is used as counterpoint of pictures, the duration of pictures and music are exact.
  • Dramatic function. - When music is used in a scene, the spectator is able to understand the meaning of the action.
